A story influenced by Shakespearean Sonnet 87, a man
of little confidence finds himself in a relationship
with a highly successful woman, whom he feels is too
good for him, hanging on to the dream, hoping that
she will never discover this realization, but, as
his reality penetrates, jealousy, possessiveness, and
lack of growth, find our poet saying farewell, left
with only his memory, like that of a dream in which he
was king.
