Two years have come to this last day, two years of secretly admiring, two years of awkward hellos and playing it cool, and two years of inaction have led to today. Nicole is leaving for a new job, and it all happened so quickly.  Twenty-four hours ago, it was a day like the hundreds before it, "Good morning," she said enthusiastically in passing, an exchange of smiles, a meeting at the copy machine, as the old machine makes odd noises, she says, "Radar, about to be jammed!" A reference to Space Balls and my love grew three times that day. However, it was revealed that Nicole had received a big promotion at the end of the day, and tomorrow will be her last day in our office. I was ready to say something, or else I would have regretted it for the rest of my life. Looking for my chance, but everybody keeps congratulating her, I've got to get her alone. A day of near encounters and mustering up courage has led nowhere. In my mind, all I need is 10 minutes, and we would be together forever. A farewell party with a cake was held in her honor at the end of the day. No use, there were crowds all around her; everyone liked Nicole. I gave up, you know, I never even had a chance to say goodbye. I left the party early and went back to my cubical. I closed my eyes for a second, and before you know it, when I opened them, it was 5:35, man, eating sugar at work makes me so tired. The office is empty; I pick up my stuff and hurry out of the darkened office. The parking lot is a ghost town, except for one other vehicle. It's Nicole; she's stuck. With a few boxes around her, Nicole is trying to contact people on her phone to no success. I approach her; she smiles.
