With her marriage in a rut, 42-year-old Emily became drawn to a 23-year-old conference attendee. They kept seeing each other and ended up at the same party; she cheated on her husband as there was just an attraction she could not resist. Five years later, her now 21-year-old daughter, Constance, meets the same now 28-year-old man while interning at his company. There was also the same indescribable attraction between them, and a relationship began. It's now winter break, and Constance takes home her mother’s ex-lover as her new boyfriend. They can't articulate it, but the same attraction occurs for both women, and rivalry results. Once Emily's father, Constance's grandfather, eventually arrives for Christmas, he instantly recognizes the man and breaks the news that he had a hidden child out of his wedlock and that the man was his son. He is Emily’s step-brother and Constance’s step-uncle. Sick with embarrassment, the women cast out the patriarchal forces and begin to bond and heal their relationship.
