It's at a point when you've lost all hope that you're vulnerable to false miracles and hail Marys. Izel and her daughter have traveled more than 1,200 miles to the United States border. Izel's husband robbed the cartel and disappeared into the trees of the Guatemalan jungle. Cartel members stormed the house to use Izel and her daughter as bait to get her husband out of hiding. The cartel made a mistake so that Izel could escape; she's been on the run since then. Hiding out in Nuevo Laredo, she's already seen a cartel assassin. Struggling to get to the United States' safety, a homeless man tells her about a Texan who brings people through the border, all you've got to do is work off your debt. Out of choices, she decides to go and is loaded in the back of a chicken truck, smelling of bird excrement, and is taken across the border in the middle of the night. Once she arrives, it's not as she anticipated, slave labor during the day and advances at night, separated from her daughter, they're not going to tell her how much work she has to pay for the border crossing. The Texan isn't the kind family guy he's trying to portray. With a crush on Izel, he makes a special prison for her, something out of a nightmare. She's got to escape; she did not come this far only to go this far. If she can escape the Guatemalan cartel, she can find a way to survive a sadistic Texan, can she?
