When Ernesto turned 18, he set out on his dream of traveling around the world; he mapped it out, saved enough money, and promised his mother that he would send a text, an email, or a postcard once a week, so she would know he was safe. Teasing his mother, he told her that he could fall in love and stay forever, the last words she said to him, "volverás," "you will come back." A month into his trip, while traveling in Johannesburg, South Africa, the messages stopped coming. His mother waited a week, and when he missed two weeks in a row, she went to the place where the last message had been sent. She had a deep feeling that something was wrong. She went to the hotel where he stayed. They had a record of him being there, but he checked out two days early. Ernesto carefully designed the itinerary, there's no way he'd be sidetracked from it; something was wrong. Eventually, she meets a guy who remembers Ernesto and begins a trip down the rabbit hole to find her son. Deep in the underworld of South Africa, she's going to get her son back or die trying.
